Disaster Services

Disaster Services

The Granite Chapter disaster relief services focus on meeting people's immediate emergency disaster-caused needs. When a disaster threatens or strikes, the Red Cross is prepared to provide shelter, food, clothing and mental health services to victims. The core of Red Cross disaster relief is the assistance given to individuals and families affected by residential fires and floods, to enable them to resume their normal daily activities independently.

All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of money and time from area residents.

The Red Cross also helps to feed emergency workers, handles inquiries from concerned family members outside the disaster area, provides blood and blood products to disaster victims, and helps those affected by disaster to access other available resources.

helping after Hurricane Wilma

Members of our Disaster Action Team (DAT) respond - from your neighbor's house fire to a level-5 hurricane. We're there to help 24/7. We train our team members to care for families in crisis; to perform damage assessment, to manage shelters and to assist rescue workers. We have a network of mental health and pastoral counselors to help disaster victims recover from trauma. We are always there for you.

If you would like to learn more or join our team, please call the Director of Emergency Services at 225-6697.

International Tracing Services

The American Red Cross provides tracing services to members of the community regarding their relatives and friends in other countries when they have been separated by war, disaster, civil disturbance, and changing world conditions. Our tracing services department works closely with the Central Tracing Agency of the International Committee of the Red Cross in locating relatives and friends in other countries.

For more information about Red Cross tracing services please call 225-6697.
