Services for the Armed Forces (SAF)
The Red Cross serves as the primary emergency communications link between military families and service members around the world. If a Concord Area resident needs to reach a military family member concerning a birth, death, medical emergency, change in child care arrangement or other family-related crisis, Red Cross staff and volunteers verify and deliver the information to the service member. If emergency leave is granted by a commanding officer, the Red Cross in conjunction with the Military Aid Societies provides emergency financial assistance for travel and expenses when needed.
Serving one's country through military service can present it's own unique set of difficulties for service members and their families. Red Cross caseworkers serve as counselors to military personnel, helping them identify issues and resources to address personal, financial and family-related problems. If assistance is needed beyond the scope of Red Cross, service members are provided with information and referrals to other agencies.
The Red Cross collaborates with the military aid societies when a military family needs financial assistance and NH chapters are the intake agents for the NH National Guard's Chaplain Emergency Relief Fund.
