December 2008 Ice Storm

Red Cross disaster volunteer David Kemp (R) from Vernon, CT did some paperwork
at the Red Cross emergency shelter at the Exeter High School on Tuesday evening. Stephen Carr, (L) also a Red Cross disaster volunteer, chatted with shelter resident
Anna Sullivan from Exeter. Carr, who is a security guard in his home in
Pautucket RI, received generous leave from his supervisor.

Tracey and Scott Moulding and their son Lincoln (age 2 ½) spent the weekend
in their cold home in Exeter, but decided to make use of the Red Cross shelter
at the Exeter High School. Also with them was their son Wyatt, daughter Jade
and Tracey’s mother, Anna Sullivan. “The boys main concern in coming to the
shelter was whether there would be toys there,” said Tracey.

Wyatt Moulding (age 3½ ) was enjoying pizza for dinner on Tuesday evening at
the Red Cross shelter at the Exeter High School. He came to the shelter with
this parents, younger brother, older sister and grandmother.

Community Center in Concord

Mother and daughter, Edith (middle) and Ruth (L) Holmes from Nashua,
had a lively conversation with Red Cross volunteer Donna Hastings.

Three meals a day were prepared and served by a food service team at Nashua
High School South which included food service workers from the high school and
the middle school, teachers and a school nurse. Shelter guest Valerie Brault, 7,
ranked the food as her favorite part of the shelter.

Red Cross volunteer, Gary Olivero, stacked extra cots at the Milford Elementary
School shelter. Olivero and 9 other disaster volunteers came up together from New
Jersey to work with NH chapters in helping storm victims.

Judith Bayly from Amherst and her service dog Crystal were at the Milford
Elementary School. Bayly breeds Irish setters to be service dogs. Many of
the shelter residents enjoyed Crystal’s mellow personality.

Chris and Candace Brault and 2-month old Victor chatted with Red Cross shelter volunteer Gina Campo who came from New Jersey to help with the disaster relief.

Red Cross shelter manager, William (Bud) Colfer, seems oblivious of the
school’s threatening team mascot.

Bao Cramer, a Red Cross volunteer from Merrimack, dedicated her time and
attention to the shelter guests at Nashua High School South.
