Licensed Nurses Assistant Training Program

Are you interested in a career in healthcare?

The Granite Chapter of the American Red Cross offers several Board-Certified classes to individuals wanting to become a Licensed Nurses Assistant (LNA), current LNAs who need continuing education units, or for individuals who would like to gain skills in caring for family members in need of assistance. The courses are focused on the six principles of care: infection control, safety, communication, privacy, dignity, and independence.

LNA I

Targeted to individuals who are interested in an entry level position in health care and immediate employment that will best meet their needs and those of their family unit. This program is 146 hours long and covers a period of 9 weeks.

Book Fee: $75.00
Registration Fee: $40.00
Tuition: $1,240.00
State Exam: $100.00

Training Details:

Includes classroom, lab, & clinical training.
12 hours of CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer/First Aid training.
Classes are held four (4) days a week, Monday through Thursday. Day and evening classes available.
Results in American Red Cross certification & NH state licensure.
Taught by Licensed Nurses who are experienced, certified Red Cross instructors.

Student Requirements:

Must be 16 years of age.
Must successfully complete a personal interview & screening exam.
High School diploma or GED NOT required.

LNA II

Advanced training for licensed LNA's looking for career advancement.

Registration Fee: $40
Tuition: $850
Book Fee: $75

Training Details:

38 hours of classroom time, 15 hours of lab and 32 hours clinical

Students will be able to perform the flowing skills:

Straight urinary catheters   Oxygen mask placement
Feeding tubes   Chest physiotherapy
Wound care   Peripheral vein IV removal
Vegus nerve stimulation   Colostomy irrigations
Pulse oximetry   Blood glucose monitoring
Incentive spirometry

LNA Reentry Course

Targeted to those whose LNA license has lapsed, and need some additional classroom/lab/clinical time to prepare for the NH state exam or the Challenge exam. Includes 40 hours of classroom/clinical training, 12 hours of CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer/First Aid and NH State Competency Test.

Phlebotomy Training Program

The American Red Cross Granite Chapter offers Phlebotomy Training to qualified individuals.  This course is designed to provide students with the theoretical, practical and interpersonal skills required of an entry-level phlebotomist.

Please see below for the calendar of scheduled PHLEBOTOMY classes through July 2010. Daytime classes will be held on Monday & Thursday. Evening classes will be held on Monday & Wednesday. Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Proof of Active LNA, LPN or RN License, Medical Assistant or other Medical Professional
  • Be in good physical and mental health

 Program Objectives:

  • Demonstrate entry level phlebotomy skills
  • Demonstrate professional conduct consistent with the established professional code of ethics
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the healthcare delivery system and medical terminology
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety and infection control as defined by the CDC and OSHA
  • Demonstrate knowledge of collection equipment, various types of additives used, special precautions and substances that can interfere with chemical analysis of blood constituents
  • Define medical terminology relating to phlebotomy
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology of cardiovascular systems as it relates to the role of a phlebotomist
  • Communicate professionally in the workplace
  • Have a clear understanding of patient, clinical and resident rights
  • Describe the components and functions of departments within a clinical laboratory
  • Successfully complete two venipunctures

Targeted to Personal Care Attendants, LNAs, or any healthcare worker who wants to further their skills and knowledge and satisfy CEU requirements.

Train the Trainers

Participants will learn how to teach a Licensed Nurse Assistants program to work in today direct care workforce. We are a NH Board of Nursing approved train the trainer program.
