Chapter Adds a Grants Coordinator to Staff

The following message is from Mark W. Everson, President and CEO of the American Red Cross.

WASHINGTON, DC - June 15, 2007 - Yesterday the White House announced that President Bush intends to reappoint Bonnie McElveen-Hunter as Chairman of the American Red Cross Board of Governors for a second three-year term. The Red Cross Board of Governors unanimously recommended Bonnie's reappointment last month.

I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue to work alongside Bonnie as we bring the Red Cross into a new era of readiness and response. Bonnie's leadership has served the Red Cross well and we are now poised to maximize the strength of a revitalized Board-Management relationship to create a stronger, more nimble volunteer organization.

Bonnie has shared with me how enormously grateful she is to President Bush for his confidence and his support of the noble work of the Red Cross. She is also deeply appreciative of the encouragement of the Board of Governors and the faith they have placed in her to continue the mission of the Red Cross in the United States and around the world.

Please join me in congratulating Bonnie on her reappointment.
