Home Depot and Red Cross: Be Prepared for Hurricanes

Home Depot logo. The American Red Cross has partnered with The Home Depot® to host a series of clinics on preparing and responding to hurricanes. The partnership also calls for the dissemination of disaster preparedness information and tips through a series of national and market-specific educational clinics, online information and in-store materials.

For the Lakes Region, the informational clinics will be held at the Home Depot in Tilton from 1 - 2 pm every Saturday in June and July.

American Red Cross logo. Disaster volunteers from the Chapter's Belmont Branch Office will be at the clinics on Saturdays June 23, July 7 and July 28, to work with the Home Depot staff and to pass out informational materials from the Red Cross on disaster preparedness and other safety topics.

As a part of this partnership, the American Red Cross and The Home Depot have developed Ready Gear, an emergency starter kit containing essential, lifesaving items recommended by the Red Cross.

A study conducted for the American Red Cross in July 2004 by Wirthlin Worldwide indicated that 67 percent of Americans feel it is very important to be prepared for catastrophic events, yet only 22 percent of those surveyed feel they are very prepared.
